Our Background
Ayla explores applied and ambient AI products. We borrow our name from a troublemaking poet who thrived on risk, wit, and rebellion—qualities we keep close in everything we build.
Our Approach
We allow ourselves the pleasure of uncertainty and exploration. We acknowledge the mutability of knowledge and enjoy an adaptive approach to problem solving. We prefer being industry outsiders; it lets us test the counterintuitive ideas that insiders can’t. We build de novo capabilities; these become the accumulated advantages that endure the next business cycle disruption.
Our Projects
We like to explore ideas and build products. Some succeed. Some mutate. Some die. All teach us something. VisitAssist
A phone-based companion that helps people remember, understand, and act on what happened at the doctor’s office—because “what did they say again?” isn’t a care plan.
Engage
Engage turns enrollment and service calls into structured intelligence for growth and retention teams, helping value-based care organizations spot census loss, churn risk, and quality breakdowns before they hit revenue.
Inflect
An AI-powered “virtual ride-along” for professional development that helps clinicians build trust, catch bias, and stay human under pressure.
Advisorly
An AI-powered SMS concierge for senior living sales teams. Helps families navigate care decisions with empathy and accuracy—because no one wants to talk to a chatbot named "CareBot9000."
CareNote
An early experiment in AI support for nursing teams, designed to ease QAPI and incident documentation. While now sunset, it left us with a lasting respect for the pace and emotional intensity of frontline care, where deeply caring people rarely get the time or space to slow down.
MDSync
An experiment in AI-assisted PDPM coding for Skilled Nursing Facilities. It's now sunset, but it sharpened our understanding of reimbursement complexity, clinical documentation, and where AI can help without getting in the way.
Ayla
Our foundational exploration into ambient AI for aging. While now sunset, its DNA and learnings about user trust and passive interfaces are core to our current work.
Our Knowledge
We 're experts in applied AI and marketplace design. We cut our teeth when R Studio on Netezza was cutting-edge, building scalable ML applications long before the hype. Today, we work with the usual suspects including LangChain, FAISS, et al. Our deep experience means we use AI pragmatically, picking tools for reliability, maintainability and cost-effectiveness. Beyond AI, we also deeply understand the dynamics of multi-sided marketplaces.
Our Collaborators
We believe in fostering an inclusive, research-focused environment. Founded by Peter Elbaor, our team is globally distributed, representing a variety of cultures and perspectives. We prioritize working with diverse, early-career professionals, eager to pay forward the mentorship that shaped our own paths. We welcome academic technology transfer and research collaborations to champion the groundbreaking work of scholars and test cutting-edge ideas in real-world settings.
